Govt To Launch 2nd Tranche of NYOTA Youth Funding on June 27 – Kindiki

The government has announced that the second tranche disbursement under the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) programme will officially kick off on June 27, 2026, paving way for thousands of young entrepreneurs to access fresh business capital.

Speaking on his X account after receiving an update report on the NYOTA Project at Harambe house on Monday, June 15,2026, from relevant Cabinet Secretaries, Principal Secretaries and Heads of Agencies, Kithure Kindiki said the programme remains central to the government’s plan of economically empowering young people.

“The second tranche disbursement of the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) business start-up capital will be launched on 27th June 2026,” Kindiki said.

He added that beneficiaries who receive the second round of funding will be expected to seek additional support from other government-backed financing programmes to scale up their enterprises.

Youth to access more funding support

“Thereafter, the beneficiaries will be expected to approach other Government financed programmes such as the Hustler Fund, Uwezo Fund and the Youth Enterprise Fund for capital boost to further grow their businesses,” he stated.

The latest update comes weeks after the government confirmed progress in preparations for the second tranche disbursement after budgetary challenges that had initially affected implementation timelines.

Over 122,000 youth already benefiting

Earlier this month, Susan Mang’eni confirmed that 122,147 youth drawn from all wards across the country are already benefiting from the programme through business training, mentorship and enterprise development support.

She noted that the beneficiaries were selected through the Entrepreneurial Aptitude Test and most have already received the first round of support.

“Most of them have already accessed the first business start-up grant of KSh25,000, with KSh3,000 retained as savings under the NSSF Haba Haba Scheme,” Mang’eni said.

Most beneficiaries already running businesses

Government data shows that 98 per cent of beneficiaries who received the first tranche have already started businesses, reflecting early success of the youth empowerment initiative.

The NYOTA programme now enters its next phase as thousands of youth prepare to receive additional funding aimed at strengthening enterprise growth and promoting long-term financial independence.
